Daily dose of Prozac may be increased if there is a positive dynamics in treatment and improvement of brain activity, when taking the minimal dose of Prozac 20mg during 2-3 weeks, but symptoms of depression appear from time to time.
If one needs to intensify an antidepressant effect, the daily dose of Prozac may be gradually increased up to the maximal dose of Prozac 80mg (4 capsules Prozac 20mg).
Prozac daily dose can be increased each 24 hours no more than on 20mg in case of the absence of pronounced side effects. Rapidly increased dose of Prozac increases the risk of severe side effects and allergic reaction to the active substance Fluoxatine.
Exceeding the maximum daily dose of Prozac 80mg may lead to overdose and further hospitalization. Therefore, daily dose exceeding 80mg of Prozac may be taken under the supervision of a therapist only.
